About Our Church

LCSJ Church History

For many years, we knew we would have no rest until we took out the gospel. We had been faithfully serving in one church, that we loved, in the Pittsburgh, PA area, but God would not let us forget what He had called us to do. After years of prayer and seeking, we knew the Lord was calling us to Philadelphia and the surrounding areas. As we began to visit the area and pray more and share the gospel on the streets, in the grocery stores and the markets and colleges, we found this area ready to receive the good news of the Word of God. The Lord led us to this area of South Jersey just outside of Philadelphia where we are meeting regularly. We moved here in summer 2024, and within a few months we started a small gathering in our house, but we had outgrown our house by the first week, so we started renting a community room in Collingswood.

We love this area and it's people, and we recognized the area of the Delaware Valley - both Pennsylvania and New Jersey, as the place where God was going to draw people to Himself. And so we live in South Jersey in Camden County, and we have a heart for reaching all these inter-connected towns of Collingswood, Oaklyn, Westmont, Camden, Pennsauken, Merchantville, Haddonfield, Cherry Hill...and the list goes on and on. We love South Jersey and are giving our lives to be lights in this area. But we are also looking across the river and ministering in Philadelphia, Montgomery County, Delaware County and beyond.

We wanted there to be a living church in the area - a living group of people, sharing their lives openly and loving and caring for one another, gathering where the living Word is preached and taught, and the worship is living, too. Not a dead religion, but alive! So, we invite those who are "church homeless", and those who are lost, and those who want to know Jesus, and those who want to know what it is be alive. Living for God gives us life. Come and see!

What We Believe

We believe that the Bible is the divinely inspired Word of God.

We believe that there is only one true God, Creator of heaven and earth, who eternally exists in three distinct persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, all sharing equally in the same nature and majesty of the Godhead.

We believe that Jesus Christ is God incarnate, the only begotten Son of God, fully God and fully man, conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life, was crucified, shed His blood and died as an atonement for the sins of man, arose in bodily resurrection, and ascended to the right hand of God the Father.

We believe in the future physical resurrection of the dead, righteous believers to a resurrection of eternal life, and unbelievers to a resurrection of judgment and condemnation.

We believe in the scriptural imperatives of repentance, faith toward God, water baptism for the remission of sin and the circumcision of heart, and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit through the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit who, through His indwelling, enables the Christian to live a godly life.

We believe in the operation of the gifts of the Holy Spirit in the church. We believe these gifts are enablements distributed freely by the Holy Spirit to every member of the body of Christ according to His will. We also believe that God appointed ministries in the church, the community of believers, for the equipping of the saints and the building up of the body of Christ.

We believe worship is an important and essential part of the life of a believer, and we worship in Spirit and truth, as Jesus directed in John 4:23-24.
